It was at an industry conference that Jim was first introduced to compressed earth blocks. His passion for building with dirt quickly became a life ambition and vocation!

Jim helped author New Mexico’s Code for earth buildings.  His work been featured in Builder/Architect Magazine and Taos News among others.

Jim’s alma mater, Knox College recently honored him with the 2010 Alumni Achievement Award.

Jim has consulted on many Earth Block projects around the globe; and the Institute he founded in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, has joined with Mexico's branch of Engineers Without Borders to offer training and workshops on various aspects of sustainable living.

Jim travels extensively, consulting to contractors, architects, engineers, organizations, and owner-builders, providing both telephone and on-site assistance for projects large and small.
